Bell & Howell and Smart Power Systems Announce Strategic Sales Alliance
Chicago, Ill., Oct. 18, 1999 - Bell & Howell Company (NYSE: BHW), a leading information solutions and services provider to industries worldwide and Houston-based Smart Power Systems (formerly IEPS, Electronic) announced a strategic sales and power protection alliance, for all Bell & Howell digital imaging products.

While Bell & Howell integrates the highest quality components into its digital imaging systems, Bell & Howell has little control over the quality of the utility power provided to an installation. As part of the Strategic Sales partnership, Smart Power Systems will provide its patented TBF power protection technology for all Bell & Howell digital imaging products. Smart Power Systems' TBF™ have been in use over the last ten years by copier, POS and Telecom companies as an inexpensive alternative to isolation transformer power filtration systems.
Under the new Strategic Sales initiative, Bell & Howell will sell Smart Power Systems TBF™ integrated Uninterruptible Power Supplies, TBF™ Stand Alone units and Automatic Voltage Regulators through its Imaging Superstore™ website and catalog.
Additionally, Smart Power Systems has developed a web-based sales support mechanism for Bell & Howell service and sales reps, including technical support, product information updates, new product previews, marketing and sales support, as well as threaded sales and tech support discussions.
